When I feel like I’m coming down with an illness, I don’t put on a useless facial fetish, I wear a house. The rest of the time, I’ve been meeting with good reactions when I tell the person I’m struggling to understand (ever notice how everyone sounds like the adults in the Peanuts cartoons?), “Feel free to take off your mask if you’d like, I’m not afraid of you.” Enjoying their smile of relief is priceless.
I have been watching some TV about what people had to do and what they faced during WWII, the sacrifices they made. I believe, that should we in the US be faced with a similar situation, there would be little to no coming together, a communal bearing up, a willingness to make sacrifice and bear up. What will happen is anyone who is prepared will have everything they have collected and established for themselves and could be used for communal resources–like gardens–destroyed by looters. The enemy would not have to do much itself, as the people would do most of it themselves. It seems as if this is already underway and we, The People of the US are ripe for the picking. The mask wearing and public shaming is not small potatoes.
At this point mask wearers are demonstrating that they have forfeited common sense, reality, and freedom in order to be accepted within the herd of followers who prefer to be told what to do, what to believe and be taken care of rather than think for and take care of themselves. They won’t buck authority and above all else they are signaling their virtue so that their herd mates know they are loving, kind and compassionate. Fearful of death, they’ve lost all perspective of what it means to live.
What the past year (and before) has shown is that the majority of humans are this way, herd beasts. It is uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous to speak, let alone stand against the flow.
There are even members here, by their behavior, who advocate for the herd. I have not yet found a group where there are none.
