Military Riot Control: Does Insurrection Act Allow Trump to ‘Send in the Troops’?

UPDATE: New York Times editorial page editor James Bennet resigned over the weekend, after we recorded this episode of Bill Whittle Now with Scott Ott.

Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton’s New York Times op-ed advocating use of U.S. military, under the Insurrection Act, to deal with rioting among the George Floyd protests, sparked protest from the paper’s own staff, and contributed to the national debate about the proper role of the U.S. military in quelling domestic insurrection. Does the U.S. Constitution allow President Trump to ‘Send in the Troops’?

We are witnessing the end game of a conflict that began 240 years ago… or to be precise, the manifestation of this aspect of the cock fight is significantly rooted in the civil war. It seems every time we attempt to rise above tribal/racial paradigms some fecal matter appears to gum up the rotary oscillators… this particular fecal matter and the relentless fashion that it repeatedly manifests has many names…. but overall they are the same entities that have plagued (intentional usage) humanity through out our existence… the moment that we human beings, a mammalian animal form a collective greater than the Family/Tribe unit, conflict over leadership/control inevitably arises…. so through the dance of time we have found/developed ways of governing ourselves….
Now to the juicy part…. America has been called the GREAT EXPERIMENT for a simple reason… it has never been tried before…. Slavery and tyranny have a recorded pedigree thousands of years in the making… Warlords, Emperors, Kings, Potentates, God Kings… etc…. So we clawed our way up… and with the combined wisdom of our founders, and the Grace of God, we had achieved a balanced system of shared responsibility and civil society unlike any seen before…..
Unfortunately, this condition does not appeal to all………
I personally am not a sophisticated or very talented teckie… but everything that I am going to say (bullet points) can be verified with just a cursory search.

> World Banking is controlled by a hand full of players… they have been in control since the Battle of Waterloo… (look up Mayer Amschel Rothschild) and how he conned the British Establishment….
> The relationship between Rothschild and American Bankers… (Creature from Jekyll Island)
> The relationship between Henry Ford and his pals Benito Mussolini and Adolph Hitler (Schicklgruber)… Ford was a FACIST… not the only one….> Post WWII John Foster Dulles… not enough space to cover this MONSTER
> Who Killed JFK… who was captured in a photo observing the assassination in Dealey Plaza that day….. (hint GHB)
> On and FARKIN On….
> And the last 60 years have not been that much better… BUT like I said, we keep clawing our way up, but there are those who will not relinquish power with out a fight.
> The REAL BATTLE IS AN INFORMATION/CULTURAL WAR…
> Control the message Control the Street….
> As long as the Corporate Media (a solely owned and operated arm of the remnant oligarch… Globalist… Deep State… Elite… Incompetent… Venal… Nihilists…) believe that they can maintain power WE HAVE A FIGHT ON OUR HANDS…..
>The Villains in this drama know the consequences… their greatest weakness is their arrogance… Trump has been playing them like a fiddle… they have never had to really fight, they are mostly from the entitled class… as a result when they but heads with a Bare Knuckles NY Real estate Developer and they get their nose broke, they fold like a cheap suitcase and go crying to CNN.
> We will know in short order whether the RULE OF LAW still exists… these upcoming Senate Hearings will reveal much about where we think we are going v/s where we will end up… If you see any “R” take the knee they have to go.
> FRANKLY GENTLEMEN, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SH_T SHOW… I WILL WATCH THE SENATE HEARINGS, AND IF THE OBAMA GOON SQUAD (COMEY CLAPPER, BRENNAN, LYNCH, STRUCK PAGE ad nauseam) ARE NOT BROUGHT TO JUSTICE THE THE WAR IS OVER AND WE LOST.

There is a wonderful fix for the Seattle takeover. Full blockade around the area. Turn off the water, power, and internet connections. Make sure NOTHING ABSOLUTLY NOTHING goes in or out for any reason whatsoever. No food, no water, no supplies, no services of any kind. Wait one week. Ask the thugs to surrender UNCONDITIONALLY. If they don’t, wait another week and ask again. Do that until they surrender UNCONDITIONALLY or are all dead. Then give the survivors a very long term at GITMO.
What to do with the thugs who call themselves Governor and Mayor is another thing. They are thugs and should be treated as such. They are also politicians but as Mark Twain noted, “I repeat myself”.

If the insurrection in Seattle is not time to do it, when? It IS an armed insurrection. The full force of the military should be used to put down that obscenity. They should be fully armed and fully prepared to use lethal force. Not one of those thugs should be allowed to stand one more minute!

The national guard has been “called up” for federal service many times. The Gulf Wars being a recent example, many units, from line companies to support were deployed during both GW I and GW II

The governors of the states that formed the Confederate States of America didn’t ask President Lincoln to send federal forces to quell the insurrection. Indeed, they appear to have been quite unhappy about it. Same was true when President Washington sent federal forces to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. How about troops sent to enforce school integration in Little Rock?
Scott: Yes, governors have authority over the National Guard UNTIL the President federalizes them…

Thanks for the information in this episode. I thought I had remembered that Bush had activated the army during the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles. It is certainly something Trump should do with cities like Chicago, and Los Angeles by federalizing the National guard.

Thanks guys for the lesson on civic governing… I am sorely lacking in understanding civics and/or government. (and we’re getting a big big lesson in this current situation)
I am also very very happy to learn that the Nat’l Guard can be federalized (when necessary, by the president, going over the head and authority of governors). That was the big take-away from this episode.
I, like Bill am wary of Pres Trump having to call up the actual military to defend our country inside our country. It’s kind of like the demarkation between the FBI and the CIA, one acts inside the country, the other outside.
However, when we were attacked on 9/11, who was called up? (I’m struggling to remember…) Yes, wars were started on other countries’ fronts, but inside the country? This may or may not be another example, especially as Pres Trump has designated Antifa as terrorists.
…There was a Member Blog post about a week ago discussing policing during a riot/protest. I participated in it, w/ my own comments (again, acting from ignorance, it’s been a long while since H.S.). My comment got a negative thumbs down. That’s fine, that’s what social media is about. No skin off my teeth, as they used to say. But, it aggravated me that I didn’t know the reason why I was thumbed down (better than middle finger up!) I believe (and memory is imperfect) the only thumbs down I gave in at least recent past has been against people threatening to leave/unsubscribe from BW. In that case, there was already someone voicing my opinion, ‘don’t go’.

If a mayor like the one in Los Angeles is determined to let the rioters destroy “his” city and give $250 million to the community for “reparations”, it’s because the true power structure, which is the citizens of LA, voted for a mayor who reflects the content of their character. The police force didn’t fail and the mayor didn’t fail; the experiment is self-governance failed because the majority of voters voted it that way! I am more and more liking the idea of building a wall around LA to keep the denizens from invading what’s left of free America.
Bill said, “If a citizen of Los Angeles is going to have his property destroyed or perhaps have their lives taken from them, they are expecting to be protected by the government.”
Wrong! The government is not here to protect your right to life, liberty and property. It is the citizen’s duty! The Second Amendment is there for just this reason! In the end, the buck stops at the ballot box, folks! So quicherbellyachin and wake up and smell the coffee!

I watched the incident Bill referred to about the LAPD letting the looters pass through them, watched it live on FOX. And as I did, I was thinking the same thing – they’ve been instructed to not only “not use deadly force”, but to “let them go without interference”. The destruction over that weekend was, as Bill says, heartbreaking. Also, Bill’s initial assessment of Garceti and De Blasio was correct – IDIOTS.

Hopefully the next video (preferably a Right Angle) will be about the sickening and grotesque scene in Minneapolis today, when BLM proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jacob Frey is NOT the Mayor of Minneapolis, and just who IS in charge.

If the city council in MPLS gets their way and disbands the Police department just who will be called? As the mayor and Gov do not want the National Guard to intervene.Perhaps if a citizen is in trouble they could call the Lone Ranger.

Ghostbusters?

Sorry I am embarrassed with myself, but, there it is.

I don’t think the president should do anything akin to bringing in the military or the National Guard. I got to be careful how I say this, but in my opinion America needs its eyes open to who the enemies are and that will include more unanswered pain and destruction from Antifa, BLM, Black Panthers, Tag a longs, whoever. The evil needs to be exposed and residents need to see how their leaders answer it. The fact that a group like Antifa can exist in society essentially in the open unopposed shows how sick America is.
There is absolutely no reason that Mayors and Governors should not be able to protect the citizens and property of their cities and states using the resources available to them. If they really don’t know how they should step down and let someone who does. If Trump gets himself sucked into the quagmire it will all turn into his problem. The hate and angst about Trump from the left is so bad that no matter what the result of Trump jumping in it will be played as “Trump is Hitler”. Residents need to understand who their leaders really are and we are at the point now where in some cities that will include a lot more misery.
Many cities are talking about “de-funding” police departments now. If leaders get away with that I can only hope it will wake up law abiding citizens as they are being raped, robbed, murdered, beaten and having their homes burned by the unruly predators ruling the streets taking what they want from whomever they want it.

So true!
Orange man bad!,,, but not as bad as these mayors/governors!

ackkkkk! can’t find the edit button!
I meant to add… I’ve seen numerous examples online of blacks who are not falling for all this, especially the BLM part of it. Because the movement has been hijacked by Antifa.

I think the edit button shows up at the top, after you’ve posted?
There was a quote or video of some black store owner saying “Black lives matter? I’m black! Look what you did to my store!”
I think a lot of liberals are getting mugged by reality, good and hard, to mix some quip quotes.
EDIT – No, there is a tiny gear icon in the bottom right of your comment, click that and EDIT shows up.

It’s always been incredibly hard to argue the case for the 2nd Ammendment here in the UK. Even many otherwise sound folk just don’t get it. They might get the point a bit more easily now.

Could the President use his power to say that there will be no federal money given to cities to rebuild that failed to protect the city or enforce the law? Would that help pressure local officials to do something if they know they won’t be bailed out?

One of the other differences that does come up in regards to the 2nd amendment is the concept of subject vs citizen. We are citizens here and not beholden to our leaders. We elect them and they are, in theory, beholden to us. I’m not sure how that works in the UK but as I understand it, you are subjects of the Crown. In theory, the police could have a duty to protect you there that ours do not have, here.
If they do not not have such a duty and you have no ability to protect yourself… well I guess that really means you haven’t left the serf status. Sounds like you need to run away for a year and a day.

Interesting point. The term subject in the UK has specific meaning regarding your status in terms of right of residence rather than any rights or duties to the state. We’re both subjects and citizens. From the 1st November 1993 to 31st January this year we were also citzens of the EU.

Regarding policing I’d say the principles underlying policing in the UK are more similar to the US than Europe, where bodies like the French Gendarmes and the Italian Carabinieri are Ministry of the Interior troops with police functions, rather than coppers as we understand them. This might be worth a proper post.

As to your last point, I’m starting to think I might need to run away for rather longer than a year and a day…
