Already the weaponizing of this tragedy is underway. Some have rushed to dark conclusions about how this fire started. Others have gleefully seized on this speculation as evidence of the unhinged and nasty nature of the right.
I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t occur to me that this might not be an accident. It does seem to fit with the pattern of church attacks in France, and it is a possibility, but it’s far too early to start blaming Mormons, Mennonites or Methodists.
In a Youtube vid Stephan Molyneux cited the strict EU safety regulations as reason to doubt that it was accident. It’s an error to assume that because regs exist that they are followed, especially in France. It’s all too plausible that this was a horrible accident.
Probably the only way to be certain would be if somebody released video of themselves starting it.
So sad.
A symbol of Western Civilization , if it’s not yet a crime to say that.
