Ocasio-Cortez Slams Amazon Greed: Should Billionaire Bezos Switch Parties?

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slams Amazon, suggesting billionaire CEO Jeff Bezos pays workers “starvation wages”, and should offer more benefits and pay more taxes. Surprisingly, the major Democrat donor’s company punches back.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slams Amazon, suggesting billionaire CEO Jeff Bezos pays workers “starvation wages”, and should offer more benefits and pay more taxes. Surprisingly, the major Democrat donor’s company punches back, educating AOC on Amazon’s actual pay and benefits package, as well as its massive corporate tax bill. How long will big businesses like Amazon continue to kowtow to the Democrat party that hates everything they stand for, castigates corporate greed, and longs to scuttle their hopes and dreams?

You reminded me of a favorite quote, by Thomas Fuller:
“He does not believe that does not live according to his belief.” Your example about Leonardo DiCaprio was right on.

But I see it frequently myself. One small example: my fiercely Democratic neighbor is SO concerned about “climate change” and the environment, but she mows her lawn with a gasoline powered lawnmower, and sprays RoundUp on her lawn and flower beds. (I’m an eeeevil Conservative, yet I use an electric mower and I pull up my weeds by hand.) The blatant hypocrisy makes me crazy.

“I’m one of you!” is no defense. Doing whatever you can to keep conservatives in power is better. Since a vigorous offense is the best defense, he should punch back twice as hard. That’s why Trump is President.

The greatest fear of these out-of-the-blue super wealthy is that there are poor, ambitious, ruthless, Bezos wannabes who will work day and night to displace Bezos and his cronies from their positions of wealth and power,
The best way to prevent that is to destroy the great American/Western economic system that permits and encourages (in the past anyhow) income mobility between the top and bottom classes.
Huge tax increases on wealth do not injure the super wealthy, they injure the person who is trying to accumulate his first million/ten million of net worth. Would Amazon exist in its present state if it was strangled or muffled in its infancy?
The wanna-bes are the threat, they mus be stopped.

The other issue Bezos is now being faced with is a favorite saying of mine, “The problem with building coalitions based on identity politics is that eventually your allies run out of other people to hate”

He (Jeff Bezos) is a Democrat in self defense. Conservatives aren’t going to be coming after Amazon with pitchforks, Democrats will.

That is actually not true; watch Tucker Carlson sometime – he hates Amazon with a passion, wants the government to force Amazon to pay workers more, wants the government to break up the tech “monopolies.” In fact, other than his anti-abortion and anti-immigration positions, Tucker could switch parties himself and no one would notice.

Is Tucker anti-immigration or anti-ILLEGAL immigration? It’s an important distinction. He certainly takes a very interventionist view of the economy.

“You cannot ever buy the favor of the crocodile… you can’t even really convince him to eat you last.” That pretty much sums up the whole Progressive mindset on everything. Excellent quote, Bill!
