Steve Walton’s recent post reminded me of just how awe-inspiring that first Falcon Heavy launch was–and how consequential it felt at the time, like we’d just crossed some kind of marker on the timeline of space exploration. True, we didn’t go anywhere new, didn’t do anything out of the ordinary aside from throwing a car up into space instead of the usual satellites. But suddenly we were all reminded of the possibilities. That moment when the boosters make their synchronized touchdown still makes me tear up every time I watch it.
Anyhow, Everyday Astronaut is a fun YouTube guy to watch, especially if you’re just easing yourself into the swing of everything space-related, and back in February he released a very cool music-only cut of the launch, which really lets you marvel at the whole thing without the usual background chatter–just you, the rockets, and sheer accomplishment of it all.
