Everyone wants to believe in something bigger than themselves. So why does it sometimes seem like we have a recruiting office with no posters on the wall?

Bill has said in other videos that “you can’t beat the biology” out of human beings… When you leave today’s young generation alone, they act like capitalists”…So how is “wokeness” winning?…I don’t think it is…people are rebelling and ratings of woke shows are plummeting (as well as the stocks of woke companies)…thus “Colonies” will help fill an ‘unseen demand’..I predict it will skyrocket in success!
We must reach for that which is calling us. And that is searching for what our meaning here is, and how we may find it.
Bill’s saying we need more STEM (STeely-Eyed Missle-men).
This is one of the characteristics of Bill’s commentary that stands out – the attractive vision of how life could be, the almost Star Trek (Original Series) optimistic view of what we could be, what we could accomplish.
Bill is correct that we need to start telling compelling stories, the irony is that any good story the left produces uses conservative ideals as the moral foundation and those that end up being panned or flopped fail to uphold these classic narratives.
This holds true all over the world across cultures with little variation. A good read to get to the heart of this is The Hero With A Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.
Great suggestion, William.
MB2A is perhaps Bill W’a best series of many great ones. This theme though, in fact may be his most important.
Of course, Islam is as heathen as the old Viking religion, so naturally, they would think Islam was like their own religion.
Star Trek was an outgrowth of Gene Roddenberry’s series, “Have Gun-Will Travel” created without the limitations of the earth in the days of the Old West.
The last Conservative Politician who believed in, and who consistently, continuously taught and preached the Conservative Proposition was Ronald Reagan.
He did this through the 50’s 60′ and 70’s
Obligatory Star Trek quote:
— Spock (to Stonn, in Amok Time)
Stonn (or the actor playing him, anyway) was in the greatest guy movie of all time, The Great Escape.
Put the Founding in the future — Exactly! Radical Martian Individualism, baby! 🚀 Ad astra!

I want to Restore the Constitution of the United States or die trying. I want a movement that harasses the GOP the way Antifa harasses the Democrats. Tea Party, Mark-2.
I want a group of friends who think like me, but aren’t offended by a difference of opinion on one or two issues.
I’m opposed to the, “Civil Rights,” community, and detest being blackballed and blackmailed for the exercise of my 1st Amendment rights.
I want to use those rights with Impunity and seek Allies who will back me up, not strike me down at every opportunity.
Anybody with me?
yes, I think as far as I know from your post; I am with you. I am an unashamed constitutional conservative, Christian, gun owning, heterosexual, life-long married male who thinks stupid, racist, bigoted people have a right to free speech as well.
And you think I’m one of those?
“Christian,”
I want more than 60 votes in the House and 3 in the Senate for Conservatism.
I’m opposed to Queers and believe America is a European Country. Of the West
I’m unequivically for Free Speech, in English. I want to outlaw Parsel-toungue: that Petersen-esque queer-speak spoken by the Satan himself in the Garden of Eden. Thith-genderrrrrrd…..
I want a Choice, Not an Echo.
Another thought: maybe before running ahead with new creations, some of the old classics could be put on the screen.
Do we have any decent version of Foundation of IA? It resonates with the current situation a lot.
Then Methuselah’s Children and Beggars in Spain.
My wife and I just finished going through Firefly and Serenity the other night. It seems that series is still ahead of its time. Captain Mal and crew are trying to hold on to their freedom after the battle for independence was lost. I have to say I really could empathize with the characters this time around.
Yeah great stuff. So is NF’s new series The Rookie. And Castle.
The studio did their best to kill Firefly and still it is in the top few still mentioned SF shows.
In other news I just hear hbomax will remaster and show Babylon 5!
Stopped watching the Rookie two episodes into this season when they were so heavyhandedly showing cops being racist, it was absurd. Same with Prodigal Son.
Go Woke, Go Broke. F your agenda.
Oops, I didn’t even notice the 3rd season is on the way.
The resolution of the cliffhanger was OK. It was the woke next episode that had me erase it from my viewing history and queues. Don’t even think I made it that far into the episode.
At this stage in my dotage, I don’t see any reason to entertain myself with things that piss me off.
I was a huge fan of This is Us. A really brilliant show, not hard to overlook some small stuff. But then current season made cringe on the first screen, and then eradicate it in maybe 5 minutes in. What a waste. They are so obsessed to ruin everything. 🙁
The left talks about, “The American Dream”, all the time. What is the American Dream? It is the place where people can stop being blocked, attacked, jailed, demonized by aristocrats, elites, and governments from actually seeking a prosperous and enjoyable life. The illegal immigrants that are referred to in the “dreamers” propaganda are not woke, transgender, single, nuclear family hating, masochists that want to burn down this country. They are repressed families from other countries that are either failing due to instability, unrest, or truly poor government that doesn’t afford them a life option to raise their children and build a successful life. The immigrants resounding comments on issues going on now in America are not for the left, but are asking why America would want to become just like the mess that they left behind… Many are claiming asylum as reason for entering the US. Asylum from what? It is a socially oppressive, destructive, and unjust forms of government that puts the interest of the few (elites) over the rest or majority of their society.
The left says the majority of America is a bunch of white, conservative, nuclear family, successful business owning, racists that control everything.
If you remove the laws/founding ideas of America that where based on Christian ideals then you would have a land of the chaos and strongest rule and everyone else would be slaves. That is the type of lives these “Dreamers” and their families left behind. If socialism is so great why aren’t millions of illegal immigrants trekking to China or North Korea?
Once again, yes this is long, to say this:
Maybe our message should be-
These foundations are what the left has been undermining and eroding for decades.
I hear you brother but hey, Bill? If you’re going to destroy glassware at every woke portrayal* in modern entertainment you’d best start buying it by the truckload.
We all need to take note that conservative oriented entertainment is not only economically feasible but also can be quite popular with a lot of Americans. Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” did extremely well in spite of attacks from the anti-Theist Left. “Run, Hide, Fight” is doing pretty good right at the moment. Etc.
It’s not only that the current crop of media is Leftist/Woke-aholic oriented, the evil ones own the distribution systems too. It’s unlikely that when Bill’s series is ready to go that any major distribution system will take it on … Until it gets so popular that the financial gains are obvious. Even then, we have all seen cases where the Leftist controlled entertainment media and Big Tech have acted against their own financial interests in favor of promoting their ideological narrative and goals.
(*As a matter of perspective, the scenes in “Vikings” you mentioned where Floki refused to attack a mosque have another teleology. In Christian theology there is One God and only the One. Other “gods” with a lowercase “g” are actually demonic entities. Odin and the Norse Gods are demons, what the Bible refers to as “principalities” — and so is Allah, who is an adaptation of an ancient Arabian moon god named “Al-Lah”.
The alternate explanation therefor is that Floki’s demon recognized and honored the territory and adherents of a yet more powerful demonic god. In essence those scenes show Odin and the Aesir bowing to Allah, an ally and even more powerful spiritual entity on the same side as them and both solidly against Christianity. History supports this with the fading of the Norse Gods and the spread of Islam.
I’m sure this was not the aim of the writers but it’s interesting that they accomplished this even so from a teleological and theological viewpoint. If you call yourself Christian you do well to heed the admonition in Romans 8 that ” … we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him …” and not lose sight of Who is really in charge.”
That’s actually more fruitful than smashing glassware.)
I don’t know how many times I wanted to throw some thing up against the wall because of what I’ve heard the Liberals do. We have to start doing some thing to fight back. Or we lose everything we have.
Bill,
Excellent video.
You are getting there. You haven’t quite gotten it all – or maybe you have but don’t point out everything because you can’t make the video too long.
The short version:
We are a nation of Harvey Cheynes , prior to falling off the cruise ship.
The Long Version:
1) The need to belong and have purpose
Young teens through 20’s are people breaking away from parents and looking for something to grasp. They are a ready-made cohort for anyone who wants to capture their hearts and minds. They are thirsting for meaning…a reason for being. Crazy to find purpose in life. Many are coddled but remain unhappy because that need you describe in your video is there but unrequited. They are probably unaware of it, themselves, in our coddled society.
This has been known for thousands of years. For proof of that, just look at a story by our beloved Kipling: Captain’s Courageous. Even the Hollywood version knew and understood the vapidness and worse – emptiness, lonliness, and directionless nature – of the poor little rich kid and how that kid can find purpose and meaning.
And the BENEFIT of that purpose and meaning.
Used to be – 200 years ago – that they were vital to actual survival of the family. They had a place. They belonged. In our cushy society they are not vital. Couples can and do decide to not have children and their survival is not threatened.
If they have children, we know what happens all to often – babysat by daycare, school then a a plethora of activities. Parents think of them as a box to tick and not a deep philosophical challenge of great importance.
So that’s why Socialists, Communists and Marxists, and leftist newsrooms have appeal to young people – ready made belonging for empty, directionless, impressionable young people:
We are a nation of Harvey Cheynes, prior to falling off the cruise ship.
(Captain’s Corageous)
And unfortunately, these days, a lot of purposeless, directionless, empty teens grew into purposeless, empty directionless adults and so glom onto the nearest thing that looks like a place to belong (e.g. caucasians pretending to be black).
2) A visible palpable challenge
There is no selling everything and piling into the Conestoga wagon for unknown lands. No challenge like that available. You point that out.
So what possible challenge exists for people today? Some have the drive to invent and some have the drive to build giant companies. Some are willing to be single minded in their drive to be an astronaut. But that’s not most people. People like the above are few and far between.
Used to be that the challenge was to come over from poor places in Europe and elsewhere and build an entirely new life – starting in the tenements of New York City. The people who did that had a vision
What is today’s “vision” in a rich, cushy, government will take care of you, nation?
You say you want to build a vision that people want to be part of. And your “movie” looks like it will extol the virtues of our founding. But it’s still stuck in the past. You are casting the virtues of the Founding in modern day settings but you are missing the vital connection:
Where, when and how can people be “adventurers” today?
How can they be “Founders” today?
The challenge cannot be “Return to the vision of the Founders” because there’s no proffered reason for bothering.
Our cushy society has bred out a LOT of imagination. Why be imaginative when you don’t have to be?
If you want to win people over they have to be shown that:
1) It is possible…today…in our totally explored world…to be an adventurer and
2) Freedom is the only path which will allow that.
People need to be taught both. Not just the second.
Like me I suspect you recall the early days of the space program. We all thought everyone would be in space soon. The shuttle was supposed to to that for us.
It didn’t. (Government program).
Government is crushing innovation, experimentation, adventurism …and the Freedom necessary to encourage the results of those attributes. I know I’m preaching to the choir here but I think that if you want to be a movement that others want to be a part of, there’s a huge lethargy to overcome…. many (most?) people no longer use their imaginations.
3) Victim Society
I’ve probably already strayed into the TL;DR bin but another societal characteristic that must be fought is the Cachet of Being a Victim.
If you are a victim – you belong and have purpose because (as always in history) there are cagey people willing to use your perceived victim-hood as a path to power.
Those people will give the victim meaning.
Ah I just now read Kurt’s article which you referenced. I see I say the same things he says with regard to kids.
Perhaps, part of the reason why there is more ‘pitch’ from the left is that the left is the philosophy of evil; they seek only to destroy what is good and virtuous. Evil can never create; it can only destroy. An old saying (perhaps by St. Augustine – but I’m not sure) goes like this: “It is easier for an unskilled laborer to drive his pick into stone of a cathedral than for the mason to build the cathedral” (or words to that effect.)
Bill, If you want to blow off some steam message me. One trip to Texas and we’ll be killing hogs over the weekend.
Here’s a few policies conservatives aggressively used government to implement:
Oh but those aren’t ‘political’. Yes, just as the progressives believe their values aren’t political either. They’re just doing what’s good. Just as conservatives where using government to do what they believed was good.
I love conservative values, but sadly when it comes to things they want, most conservatives have just as much faith in government as progressives.
I call bullshit on this comment …
Since when do conservatives not believe their values are political? That’s a crock. Of course they’re political. That whole paragraph makes no sense.
I don’t believe you “love conservative values”, it doesn’t look to me like you even know what those values are. You sound a lot more like an indoctrinated Lefty spouting on things “everyone knows are bad because we say so” sort than a conservative.
I wonder if he meant the 10 Commandments.
Bill, Exactly precisely right. If we want to MB2A – If we want a better America and American – we better heed this advise (as someone I know used to say, “big-ly”)
Btw – a little constructive criticism – This was exactly my concern with our new series on Virtue. I.e., Why the hell is Chastity worth wanting?, Etc..
Please build on this! Thanks again!
Where is thge pitch? Start making movies out of Kurt Schlichter’s novels about America splitting. You had great action, humor, and best of all, ripping on Libtarditude
Bravo, Bill. Great video, thank you. Why is it that its so much easier for the left to push their narrative than it is for the right? I see so much hate from the woke people. I see people on the right being more motivated by “love” and a more generous approach to others. But if love is stronger than hate, then why aren’t we winning?
Excellent news. Please consider a storyline about how the creative productivity of future America succeeded by throwing off the dead weight of government. As one who still hasn’t fully recovered from the burden of Obamacare crushing thirty years of my life devoted to building a small business, that’s a revenge story and triumph current Americans need to understand and cheer. We who get by on the margin acutely feel what isn’t obvious to those insulated by a thicker cushion, but in ways large and small, we’re all poorer for the loss of dreams and wonders aborted by bureaucratic selfishness.
Vikings is one of the worst shows out there for revisionist history. The falsehood of shield maidens, the anti-christian overtones, the diversity quotas. People are captivated by it and can’t see it at all. I didn’t get as far as you did Bill. I cut out at season 3.
And they never even explain Lothbrok (hairy pants) probably got that name because of dysentery…..
All my life I wanted to be an American, and I still believe that it remains the last best place on earth where all things are possible if you want it bad enough, and are willing to do the work to make it happen. I love this country and will spend the rest of my days expressing my enthusiasm, gratitude, and appreciation for the opportunity to live and build a life in the United States of America.
On Dec 14th, 2020 I realized a lifelong goal of becoming an American citizen and it was one of the happiest days of my life. I feel tremendous optimism for the future of our country for the simple fact that I believe that 90% of all conservatives and 50% of liberals love America and all it stands for as much as I do. Don’t know about all of you, but I’ll take those odds all day long.
Thank you Bill for all you are doing to inspire folks like me.
Congratulations! We are better for having you join us; welcome.
: )
Glad to have you. You, and other people like you are out best argument that the U.S. Is not horribly flawed, and systemically racist and beyond redemption. The U.S. Is number one in people wanting to come here. Africans, Asians, Hispanic, etc. They leave to come here, because here is better. And because of this, we must be destroyed. It’s hard to rule over people with hope. They may fight, resist, or leave. Hopeless people just give up. You have hope. Bravery to come here. Dedication. The U.S. Is the place you belong. Welcome home!
Welcome to the fold, brother! I am grateful to share this beloved country with you and will proudly stand beside you in its defense.
Your endeavor is stirring I wholeheartedly support the project. What I am about to say is not meant to diminish or dissuade… these manifestations of technological magic inspire those who we need to influence more than any others… the youngsters.
As a child we got our first television in 1954… I grew up watching Tarzan, Lone Ranger, Commander Cody, William Tell, Boston Blacky, Steve Reeves as Hercules and his brother George as Superman…. these characters influenced my moral development…
I can recall as an adult watching a Freddy Kruger nightmare horror movie… it was the beginning of the slow and inevitable corruption of the most vulnerable among us… Star Trek and Star Wars were a brief respite… So what you are endeavoring to do is laudable.
Now to my point. The children (my Grand Children & Grand Nieces/Nephews) are captive slaves of the tech oligarchs…. try to take or restrict their use of an I phone/tablet/etc and you become the Green Oager…
To win this battle… we need to show up on their stage, battle axe in hand and ready to take heads (metaphorically). You do as what is suitable and in your skill set to do, but there are those among us who are getting tired of swallowing our rage.
I am not entirely sanguine about this new direction Bill wants to go in.
I really would have to see how it goes.
Which would the parents among us want to see more: their children reading science fiction, or making their own rockets?
Like this (which looks like even I could manage it):
https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/how-to-build-a-rocket/
This is more advanced. I think adult assistance and supervision is needed. Spending as much time online to learn how to do this then staying offline while doing it … a better use of time? Also, spending time learned the legalities of doing this and the best safety measures … educational!

In summary, Reality does not have to be mundane. And having read my fair share of meh Science Fiction, I am firmly of the conclusion that Fantasy can be duller than old dishwater.
I think what drove people to come to the “New World” was the need for something to call your own and with faith in yourself and with the help of the Lord you could build a future for yourself and your family. Life in Europe was harsh with no hope of getting better for the average person no matter how much effort you put into it. Everything was owned by the nobility and you worked for them with all your strength and time and you received just enough to keep you and your family alive, and sometimes not even that. Children were forced to work as soon as they were old enough to do meaningful tasks.
Nowhere but in America and the Western Society is there a chance to make something of yourself and build a future for your family anymore and even that takes courage and the willpower to even attempt it. Most people are now complacent and work for someone else besides themselves. The spirit of trying something that may fail is gone.
For anyone who has not seen it – Second Hand Lions
Robert Duval’s character was the ultimate. Favorite line – “Son, it doesn’t matter if it is true, or not. These are the things WORTH believing in.”
Yeah, that is another aspect of “spare the rod and spoil the child”. The next generation is glued to the cellphones and consumes the new propaganda 7/24 with a small delta — what chance it even has to pick up the old values not involved in either talk or work?
Glad about the upcoming series, indeed some alternative need to be shown as currently the prospect is only the brave new world.

More power to your arm, Bill. The naysayers have this exactly wrong – I love MB2A, Right Angle and the Firewalls, but The Colonies will be your defining moment – that will actually put Western Civilisation on the front foot, rather than perpetual defence. I say Western Civ for a reason – I am an Australian living down under – and this battle is not just for America, but for us all. (Though it is important that America doesn’t fall – you’re our lifeboat for when it gets too hard down here)
Damn, I was counting on you being OUR lifeboat…..
Time to annex Canada…..
It gets bloody cold there though. If neither of our countries are suitable, my vote is Tahiti.
😉
Would that end up being cultural appropriation?
