Time For a Force Continuum Revamp?

A functional force continuum is not designed to address previous criminal actions. It is written to address immediate threats to officers operating in a society that values justice as well as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

What happened to Floyd George (criminal history and all) was an inexcusable leap beyond the letter and spirit of any force continuum that I have ever seen in the United States. It wasn’t a mistake. It wasn’t an error. It was a willful act of aggression to a man in hand cuffs who was on the ground.

Limiting government is important to Conservatives. This is a limitation that we cannot overlook. This is, perhaps, a great time to look at limiting the use of force to those means necessary to save lives and maintain the safety of all concerned when possible.

Yes, I have been in law enforcement and Corrections. I am not speaking from a cozy seat of ignorance. However, It may well be that those who are unfamiliar with the job have great advice to offer LEO’s and correctional staff.

When those acting under the color of law overstep the bounds of justice and become judge, jury, and executioner, the law MUST apply to them in full force. Otherwise there is no justice in the land. However, this takes time and must be done carefully and BY THE LAW. Protest is reasonable. Rioting, louting, and burning is not. Those who do are outside of the law and must be processed. Otherwise there is no justice in the land.

If we are to have and deserve civilization, we must obey the law: this means the law makers, the law enforcers, and We the People. The law itself must be just, reasonable, and clearly defined. If not, there is no justice in the land.

We all have a choice, civilization or not, ballets or bullets, justice or chaos. Which will it be?

The mantra of “What do we want? Justice! When do we want it? Now!” Rapidly becomes part of the second side of those choices. Justice, rational investigation, rational consideration all take time. It cannot be hurried. State your case, demand justice, understand exactly what that means, go home, and wait!

I agree, Lionell! Absolutely! To lynch the officer, to burn down a storefront, to attack the innocent: all demean the very word “justice”.
