This is Much, Much scarier than this virus. I’ve been starting to call some of the governors dictators and tyrants but this is really starting to move from little tyranny to big tyranny. A single man ordered the entire state on house arrest and when people peacefully protested this unconstitutional action (many of which stayed in vehicles to maintain social distancing) he sent an army of police and prison transport busses to arrest them. Meanwhile actual criminals are being released from prison early to make room for peaceful protestors. This is not good.

After listening to the RA with Covid-19 humor, I thought it would maker sense to start a blog with your favorite, or original, anecdotes! Let’s see what you got!

During the first couple of weeks, President Trump at his daily briefings consistently referred to the virus as the “Chinese virus” or the “Wuhan virus.”  The press went nuts, and he successfully defended his usage of the term every day in response to their loaded questions, and it highlighted the press’s obsession with narrative.  He never laid it out quite so plainly as I would have liked, listing a dozen viruses named after their places of origin, which nobody ever suggested was racist before now, but he defended it, despite the fact that no one else at the podium ever used it.    

And then one day he came out and talked about how wonderful Chinese Americans are, and he hasn’t used the term “Chinese virus” even once since then.  And thus the press won on that narrative.  

I wish he’d stuck to his guns.  I wonder if he simply felt he’d made his point.  I wonder if someone on his team convinced him that it was too distracting and his messages weren’t getting out because that was all the press would talk about.  I wonder if someone convinced him that Asian Americans were being targeted for hate crimes (which were probably all hoaxes). 

I think the President has been enormously patient with the press and their ridiculous loaded questions.  He gives them a lot more credit than they deserve, calling a lot of their questions “fair” when they aren’t.  I don’t understand why he would let go of such easy ammo when he was right and they were wrong.

“It is impossible to keep our grocery stores stocked if our plants are not running,” Smithfield Chief Executive Ken Sullivan said in a statement on Sunday. “These facility closures will also have severe, perhaps disastrous, repercussions for many in the supply chain, first and foremost our nation’s livestock farmers.”

Smithfield said it will resume operations in Sioux Falls after further direction from local, state and federal officials. The company will pay employees for the next two weeks, according to the statement.

The company has been running its plants to supply U.S. consumers during the outbreak, Sullivan said.

“We have a stark choice as a nation: we are either going to produce food or not, even in the face of COVID-19,” he said.

Other major U.S. meat and poultry processors, including Tyson Foods Inc, Cargill Inc and JBS USA have already idled plants in other states.

Now that there is growing evidence of a synthetic virus, Epoch Times, Bill’s TCL, a few questions/random thoughts:

What does recompense look like?

Can the CCP pay enough for compensation? 

How do we as a country deal with a country that caused something much worse than Chernobyl, potential on purpose? Obviously we start to decouple our economy but is that enough?

We need to get our economy booming fast.

The CCP is going to be extremely threatened.

We want to get rid of the CCP but don’t want to start WWIII.

A few of us were discussing how to figure out, hypothetically speaking, the virus escaped from a lab with very little evidence. Well, now with The Epoch Times doc and Bill’s TCL commenting on that story, we don’t need to try and figure it out with little evidence. Pretty amazing.

Today I was privileged to join in on a video chat with fellow members of the un-washed masses, Doug, Rod, Bill, and Scott. And while Scott was the moderator, the event was clearly more of a discussion group (with Scott steering us back on point from time to time). I must say it went very well.

For those who have never met Scott or Bill let me let you in on a little secret. They are both as warm and friendly as one might expect. They are the same two guys you have come to know from Right Angle, even more so, two of the three guys from Back Stage. “Steve Green I’m calling you out ya big chicken”!  (Gene runs and hides)

I’m not saying that anyone can author and present intelligent commentary, but rarely are those attributes displayed in “real life”, on the fly. Today I got that in the form of  Bill and Scott in stereo! Not to mention the extra bonus of meeting and conversing with fellow members Rod and Doug! Speaking for someone who has not left the house more than once in six weeks, today’s video chat was a welcome pleasure.

I highly recommend anyone having a chance to join in on our next get together do so. You will not be disappointed.

I would like to say in closing that I feel like I made  new friends today. But that would be I lie. It felt like meeting long lost family again, for the first time.
